Tisarana Gamana |
Tiratna
May I revere the Buddha—whose
body and mind shine like a resplendent jewel of enlightenment.
May I cherish the Dhamma—imbued
with a transcendent, purified essence, a luminous gem of truth.
May I honor the Sangha—embodying
steadfast discipline and profound insight, a treasured beacon of understanding.
I embrace these threefold
jewels—the sacred treasures of the path—known as Tiratna.

Example 1: "Eternal Radiance"
Golden light
unveils a path within, Where the Buddha’s countenance glows like dawn’s first
hymn. In every silent breath, the echo of truth resounds, Illuminating our
hearts where endless wisdom abounds.
May the Dhamma shine—a beacon pure and bright, Its essence like starlight in
the velvet night. And let the Sangha, in unity and grace, Guide our wandering
souls to a sacred, peaceful place.
In this radiant
dance of insight and care, We find the jewels of refuge, ever fair. Each step,
each pause, imbued with love’s serene art— A timeless call to awaken the noble
heart.
Eternal radiance
wraps our humble being, A luminous reminder of endless seeing.
Example 2: "Lotus in the Heart"
In the garden of
life, beneath ever-changing skies, A lotus blooms in silence, where true
serenity lies. Its petals unfurl in the subtle morning gleam, Whispering of
mysteries that transcend every dream.
Reflecting the
Buddha’s grace and the Dhamma’s clear light, The lotus speaks softly of truth
dispelling night. In the gentle fellowship of a kindred, mindful soul, We
glimpse the sacred journey that makes the spirit whole.
Each tender
blossom, an emblem of rebirth and care— A jewel of compassion, radiant and
rare. May our hearts always mirror the lotus’s art, A tranquil bloom that
adorns the sanctum of the heart.
Example 3: "Jewels of the Sacred Path"
Upon the sacred
trail of life, with footsteps light and sure, We seek the glistening
treasures—a truth that does endure. The Buddha is our radiant guide, his wisdom
like a gem, The Dhamma, a clarion call, a luminous diadem.
In the gentle
circle of the Sangha, our spirits find their song, A symphony of trust and
care, where each soul can belong. These jewels shine not merely in the glow of
holy lore, But kindle in our daily deeds, a grace we can’t ignore.
May our journey be
adorned with compassion’s tender gleam, And every mindful moment be as pure as
a dream. For in the heart of life’s vast dance, these treasures brightly play—
Guiding our every step along the sacred way.
Each of these poems reflects a
meditative quality—the themes of inner illumination, compassionate action, and
the transformative power of spiritual teachings run deeply through them. They
invite readers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the core values of
mindfulness and ethical living found in the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha.
Below are three original modern
poems that echo the themes of reverence, inner illumination, and the sacred
treasures of the Buddhist path. Each poem reimagines the timeless ideas of the
Triple Gem—Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha—in a contemporary voice, inviting us to
find stillness, clarity, and connection amid the pace of modern life.
Digital Dharma
In the quiet glow
of a midnight screen, I sense the echo of a
timeless truth— Buddha’s gentle light, piercing through the digital
haze, Guiding my wandering thoughts in ones and zeros.
Dhamma flows like
clear code, each line a verse of clarity, Rewriting the
static of our frenetic days, Each pixel a reminder of mindful presence.
And within this web
of connections, the Sangha appears: A constellation of hearts,
linked in silent understanding, Each mindful interaction a spark of authentic
connection— A modern chorus echoing ancient wisdom.
Urban Lotus
Amid concrete
jungles and neon whispers, A lotus blooms—a silent
revolution of light Amid the rush, its petals unfold slowly, Revealing
a resilient beauty carved from stillness.
I pause to honor
the Buddha within my morning meditation, A steady
presence transcending urban clamor, Its calm a counterpoint to the
city’s ceaseless pulse.
Softly, the Dhamma
murmurs through busy alleys, Whispering truths that
dissolve the noise of haste, A quiet call to live with deliberate care.
And in the shared
glances of strangers in transit, The Sangha comes alive—a
humble archive of connection, A refuge woven from our collective
whispers of hope.
Three Jewels in the Now
In the immediacy of
this moment, I cradle ancient treasures within my hands—
Buddha, my
perennial guide, whose compassion Illuminates even the darkest
corners of the now, An ever-present light in the unfolding present.
Dhamma, a clear and
steady current, Flowing through my thoughts
like a relentless stream of truth, It mirrors every quiet, courageous
step towards awakening.
And the Sangha—a
living tapestry of mindful souls, Each encounter lighting up
the space between us, A shared heartbeat in the vibrant dance of
everyday life.
Together, these
three jewels shine in the immediacy of this now, Reminding me that even amid chaos, sacred treasures abound— Ever
timeless, ever present, guiding us home.
These modern verses aim to capture a sense of reverence and inner clarity while speaking in the language of today. They invite reflection on how ancient virtues can enlighten our modern worlds, urging us to find moments of stillness and soulful connection amid the constant flow of life.
